This is a Ross' Goose. I love how clean it looks. (I can never keep white that clean!) They are not common here in Indiana, so I was excited to see one. A life bird!

I'm a month late posting this, as I spotted this deer in my woods on November 9. It's probably one that browses my roses and other plants as it passes through my yard.

Found this little guy back in my woods. He looks tiny, but to the ant crawling on his back, he's big!

I found this in hanging around in my hydrangea bush. Here's how I noticed it:

Fun find!  It's a luna moth.

Another nest found in the orchard. This one is a willow flycatcher's.

Poetry note: I have a poem scheduled to be in Babybug's October issue!

I found this Acadian Flycatcher nest and was focusing to take a picture, when in flew the bird! Perfect timing!

Look who came for a suet dinner! I think rose-breasted grosbeak males are beautiful birds.

And yes, it's that time of year again. Fun to find and good to eat.

Erigenia bulbosa, common name: Harbinger of Spring or Salt and Pepper.
They are up and blooming in my woods. Yay! Spring!

This squirrel ran up a tree and popped into a hole. Maybe there isn't enough room in there for all of its tail!

I am making it a habit to always take my camera on my walks. Since I bought a new one, it is much lighter to carry and I love the zoom on it. Here is what I found in my woods this evening!

We had another big snow in February, and the melting came in stages. It would start to melt in the day, and refreeze at night. So we got these lovely icicles.

When the snow did finally did disappear, I spooked up this woodcock on a walk in my woods. He has such good camouflage with the leaf clutter. Unfortunately,  we are expecting more snow this weekend. I'm not sure how he'll cope with that.  He needs to fly back south for a while!

January has been a big snow month. It was very pretty coming down.

But piled up fast and gave the school kids an extra week of vacation!

The birds kept the feeders busy.

A writing note- I had an acceptance of a poem by Babybug today! Woo Hoo!
