Had our first measurable snow for the season. It dressed the redbud tree for winter.

A downy woodpecker sat still until the blow of snow subsided some.

A yellow-bellied sapsucker was feeding on persimmons still hanging in the tree and then came to the                                                                bubble rock for a drink.

The yellow-throated warbler is still here- I've seen it feed on suet, persimmons and thistle seed.

A welcome visitor to my feeder- a late staying yellow-throated warbler. His bright yellow throat shines on dreary November days.

Saddleback caterpillar, Acharia stimulea (Clemens)
I didn't see it and brushed against it. OUCH!!
Those spines have poison in them, on them.

This lucky skink might have an exciting story to tell-  "How I Lost My Tail"

Ever wonder what a horsefly looks like underneath?

New visitor to my feeder! Red-headed woodpeckers are beautiful birds. Love to see the white wing-patch when they're flying. But I'm glad this one stayed put for awhile so I could get its picture!

Mr. Lincoln bloomed! It smells wonderful!

Tufted titmouse nesting in a maple tree in our backyard.

Beautiful start to a spring day. Thank you to those who made our freedom possible.

April is an exciting month. Warblers are wandering through. This is a Palm warbler.

Morel mushrooms begin popping up.

                                           I found a wood frog.

And, blah, I am pulling Garlic mustard from everywhere- my place, my daughter's, and the town park.

Spring is here!   Blood root in bloom.

Harbinger of Spring, or Salt and Pepper in bloom.

And a Turkey Vulture that is back from its trip south.

Another red-shouldered hawk crossed my path. Took this picture from my van.

A tufted titmouse visited my bubble rock.

This was sitting outside my feeder window in the persimmon tree. The birds at the feeder were business as usual. Red-shouldered hawks are not suited to catching agile birds. They feed on mice, shrews, etc. The feeder birds seemed to know that!
